Background
Felling Cricket Club was established in 1919 and has developed into one
of the leading clubs, not only in the North East, but it is also now
known nationally.
To realise their ambitions, Felling Cricket Club successfully gained
entry into the Federation Special Durham Senior League in 1992, after
winning four “A” division championships as members of the Newcastle
Building Society Tyneside Senior League. The club followed up this
remarkable record by winning the Federation Special Durham Senior League
championship in 1997 after a mere six years in the League, without
losing a single match en route, a memorable achievement.
In common with many clubs in the region Felling now puts the emphasis on
producing home grown talent to enable us to compete at such a high
level. In 2004 we formed the Felling CC Junior Academy to further
enhance our junior provision and provide even better opportunities for
juniors at all ages and levels to come along and enhance their cricket
and social skills.
As part of the drive to provide quality provision for
juniors we have established a professional coaching structure at the club with coaching
sessions provided each week by four qualified ECB coaches.
Marketing Opportunities
Felling Cricket Club presents a great opportunity to advertise not only
in Felling and Gateshead MBC, but across the North East and Nationally.
Felling field three senior teams in the Durham Senior and Sunday leagues
which span County Durham and Tyne and Wear. We also take part in several
high profile cup competitions each year offering a wide range of
sponsorship and advertising opportunities.
Felling CC also compete at all junior levels in the Durham Senior league
youth structure fielding teams at under, 11, 13, 15 and 18 years of age.
Through this initiative Felling this year hosted their first Kwik
Cricket festival which gave 13 local junior schools the opportunity to
come to Felling Cricket Club and take part in an action packed and fun
day of cricket under the guidance of qualified coaches.
As part of this Felling CC coaches visited several schools in the area
to provide dedicated coaching sessions in the run up to the festival, an
initiative we will continue with next year.
